Passive welding masks are used to protect the welder's eyes and face from harmful radiation and splashes during welding, as well as to enable operation in grinding mode or cold seam assessment without having to remove the mask, thanks to the folding light filter. They are equipped with a standard darkened light filter that can be raised or lowered with a nod of the head to assess the weld, which distinguishes them from models with automatic light filters (chameleons).
